MEDICAL NASAL SHOWER RESEARCH
Research is being conducted worldwide on the effect of nasal rinsing on (chronic sinusitis), hay fever, allergies and colds. NeilMed Pharmaceuticals, Inc, USA, promotes independent research, including on the effect of nasal rinsing using high-volume nasal showers.
DECLARATIONS
STATEMENTS FROM DOCTORS
Nasal rinses strengthen your immune system and help you breathe more freely. An ear infection also heals better with frequent flushing (consult your doctor before doing this).

NASAL RINSING IMPORTANT FOR COLDS AND SINUSITIS (SINUSITIS OF THE FRONTAL SINUSES)
In her doctoral research, Dr. FA Ebbens shows that patients with chronic inflammation of the nose and sinuses benefit from proper flushing with saline water. This also applies to people who have a cold. During a cold, mucus is formed in the nose, in which bacteria can survive well. With prolonged infection, a cold can turn into inflammation of the forehead and sinuses (rhinosinusitis), which may or may not be chronic. Regular flushing removes bacteria, improving the body's immune system's ability to fight off the common cold. Nasal rinses are a good way to clean the nose and breathe more freely, according to Ebbens. An ear infection also seems to heal better if you flush often.

Rinsing the nose with saline solution significantly improves quality of life. Patients experience a sharp reduction in their nasal symptoms and sleep better.

FEWER SYMPTOMS, BETTER SLEEP AFTER NASAL CLEANSING
This study compares nasal rinses with saline solution to nebulizations with saline solution. The study results show that nasal rinsing with saline solution significantly improves patients' quality of life. In particular, they experience a strong reduction in their nasal symptoms and they sleep better. The study also looked at whether nasal rinsing has an effect on ear complaints and psychological symptoms, but no difference was measured between nasal rinsing and nasal spray. Being able to sleep better due to nasal rinsing - because the airway is then open - is highly valued by patients and leads to high scores in this study.

Nasal rinsing is beneficial after surgery on the nose, sinuses and sinuses. Nasal rinsing with a saline solution (nasal douche) removes dirt and crusts and prevents adhesion of the mucosa after surgery.

Rinsing with saline offers relief for sinusitis patients
ENT doctors recommend saline flushing after sinus surgery to remove secretions, debris and crusts, reduce the risk of postoperative mucosal adhesions and accelerate mucosal healing. Saline rinsing is gaining popularity as an alternative approach to relieve the symptoms of chronic sinusitis. In 2007, the Cochrane Collaboration reviewed the effects of nasal rinsing with saline on symptoms of chronic sinusitis. The reviewers concluded that saline rinsing is well tolerated and has a beneficial effect on treatment after surgery of the nose, sinuses and sinuses.

NeilMed® Sinus Rinse™ Nasal Rinse device good complement to medical treatment
Study description:This study was initiated to determine whether the addition of high-volume isotonic sodium chloride (hereafter "saline") nasal rinse at low positive pressure to intranasal corticosteroid therapy improves quality of life and the objective experience of free nasal breathing in patients with allergic rhinitis compared with treatment with internal corticosteroids alone.
Conclusion: High volume, low positive pressure nasal irrigation with isotonic saline is an effective adjunct to therapy to improve quality of life in patients with allergic rhinitis already treated with internal corticosteroids.
